Hello, My name is Joye Briggs. I am the Founder, Executive Director of Yellow Horse. I am a PATH Intl Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor, Foundation Riding Instructor and PATH Intl Equine Specialist In Mental Health and Learning, and OK Corral Series Certified in Equine Assisted Learning and Psychotherapy. This program has been a dream of mine for many, many years. With the unconditional love and support from my husband, parents, children and close friends, I have been able to build my dream into a reality which is now Yellow Horse.
I have been loving, learning, teaching and working with horses since I was 5 years old. I've owned and trained my own horses pretty much my whole life, competed in barrel racing locally and on the ARA, WPRA and NBHA circuits, ridden on Hunter Paces and some Competitive trail riding, worked on several Thoroughbred racetracks and managed horse farms. Starting in 2011, I volunteered and worked with several therapeutic programs, such as Pike Peak Therapeutic Center in Colorado, Horses Healing Humans in Connecticut. I am a PATH Int. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor and anEquine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning. I am also certified through the OK Corral Series in Equine Assisted Learning and Psychotherapy.
I have taught foundation horsemanship, on and off, part time, for over 40 years. For the past 10 years I have been part of Equine Assisted Activities. I love working with my students and being a part of the growth, healing, learning and blessings Yellow Horse brings about.
I am the proud mother of three children, now young adults, Joshua, Jacob and Emily. When I am not putting all my time into Yellow Horse, I spend time with my husband, Michael, my dog Owen and with my family and good friends. Contact: Joye@yellowhorseri.com

Emily E. Rice
Hello, my name is Emily Rice. I am Co-Founder/ Assistant Executive Director of Yellow Horse and an Occupational Therapy Assistant. I received my associates degree in Health Sciences from New England Institute of Technology in 2017. My experience working with horses goes all the way back to when I was in my mothers belly. As a child I grew up learning both English and Western. I love helping out Yellow Horse instructors with fun and innovative ways for lessons using my OT background. I have witnessed what horses can do therapeutically for many people, myself included. I truly believe in the therapeutic healing that horses can provide to children and adults and want to share just how healing horses can be for each and every one of us.
While I live far away in Oklahoma I am very present in Yellow Horse working virtually in all administrative aspects of the program. Contact: Emily@yellowhorseri.com

Jessica Mizzell
Hello, my name is Jessica Mizzell! I am the Volunteer Coordinator and an instructor in training at Yellow Horse. I received my Bachelor of Science in Equine Business Management from Johnson and Wales University in 2021. I am currently in training to become a certified therapeutic riding instructor through the Certified Horseman’s Association.
Horses have been an integral part of my life since I was 10 years old. I grew up riding, showing, and eventually working in Hunter/Jumper barns. I have been blessed with many wonderful mentors, trainers, school horses and catch riding opportunities to advance my riding career and education within the equine industry. In 2017, I bought my first pony, Sawyer. He is my heart horse and best friend. We do flat work and jump, have competed in hunter/jumper classes, dabbled in dressage and eventing, and especially enjoy trail riding.
While in college, I took two semesters of Equine Assisted Activities and Therapy where I was introduced to Joye, Emily, and the wonderful team at Yellow Horse. I started volunteering in November of 2020, and the rest is history! I love being able to facilitate learning and enjoyment through horses, as horses have fulfilled my life in so many ways.

Patricia O'Leary
Hello! My name is Pat O’Leary. I am a pediatric physical therapist who has been involved in the
therapeutic horsemanship field in many different capacities. I am a certified therapeutic riding
instructor and registered therapist through PATH Int’l and trained through the American
Hippotherapy Association. I got involved because a family member with multiple sclerosis was
riding in 2001 and haven’t looked back. There are so many therapeutic attributes to a horse,
and I feel privileged to have had the ability to combine my physical therapy skills with them to
help others. I have owned one very special horse, Candy, and sponsored another, Sherman.
Each one with their own special place in my heart. Life has been so much more enriched
because of horses.

Nancy Gilbride
My name is Nancy Gilbride. For most of my career I have worked as an Administrative Assistant in the medical field at Rhode Island Hospital and University Orthopaedics, Inc., finally retiring in 2018 from the Providence VA Medical Center. I began my involvement with therapeutic riding in 2015 volunteering as a side walker and leader at Gaits of Harmony Therapeutic Riding until that program moved to North Carolina. I couldn’t imagine just sitting home and doing nothing after I retired, so I joined the staff of Yellow Horse Equine Assisted Activities and Therapeutic Programs in 2019. First as a volunteer and then as an instructor.
I have loved horses my whole life! My passion grew the older that I got and has never lessened. I have been very fortunate to have owned three special horses in my lifetime that gave me wonderful and invaluable experiences from showing when I was young, to many enjoyable trail rides as I got older to just the privilege to be part of their lives.
I feel so lucky to be part of Yellow Horse and to be able to work with the students and the horses! I love seeing the excitement on my student’s faces when they get to ride their favorite horse, learn new skills, gaining confidence as they go, and having fun too! I don’t know who gets more out of the program sometimes, my students or me.

Emma Guillot
Hello, my name is Emma Guillot! I am a part-time instructor at Yellow Horse, and currently working to become certified through PATH International as a Certified Therapeutic Riding
Instructor. The equine world has been a part of my life since the early age of six when I started taking riding lessons at a local barn. I have since ridden competitively for many years in regional Morgan horse shows as well as various equitation platforms. I currently ride and show my heart horse, Tommy!
My full-time career is as a purchasing manager for Shawmut Design and Construction. While in my undergraduate studies for architecture at Roger Williams University, I became heavily involved with the therapeutic riding industry. Volunteering for years as a side walker and equine leader allowed me to learn a great deal and eventually begin teaching my own therapeutic riding lessons a few times a week. A long-term goal of mine is to one
day fully design, construct, and eventually operate my own therapeutic riding facility – a capstone project I began my senior year of college! It is incredibly rewarding to be able to pass along my love of horses to others, while capitalizing on the abilities of each student I teach.
