Meet our Partners

Picture
Bonny
Bonny is a Haflinger Mare, she is approx. 18 years old. We believe that Bonny is Lilly's daughter. Her short but stout body offers riders  a comfortable ride. Bonny is what we like to call very "forward", which means she has a fast walk.   This is very beneficial for many participants.  She has a wonderful personality and  loves to snuggle with her riders.

Chinook
Chinook is a 25 Year old quarter horse gelding. Chinook has become an amazing partner to our program and already touched the lives of so many. While he may not be the get up and go kind, he is a fan favorite. Chinook LOVES trail rides and can be found most days out on the trails with his owner. Chinook also likes when you talk to him and if you listen carefully you might just hear him answer back! We are so blessed to have Chinook as a part of our Yellow Horse family.

Ella
Ella is a 19 year old pony. She is new to Yellow Horse but already a valued family member. Ella was a hunter jumper pony and has seen much of the USA! She is so well behaved and already teaching so many of our participants how to ride independently. Whether the lesson requires two side walkers and a leader or an independent riders she is ready for anything! She listens, cares for her riders, and loves meeting new friends! We are so happy to have her apart of our herd.

Lilly
Lilly is a Haflinger Mare, her age is estimated at about 28 years old. Lilly is what we like to call "bomb" proof. Lilly is a very important member of Yellow Horse. She is calm, quiet, relaxed and an awesome confidence builder! She is a sweet girl who is just happy to have a job to do!

Meg
Meg is our 19 year old Percheron Mare. Meg is a major attribute to Yellow Horse and our Veterans program. Meg is a big horse with a big personality. She loves hanging out in the paddock and socializing across the fence with her fellow horsey friends. Meg is used in a lot of our team assisted lessons and with our veterans. She is a crowd favorite and a sweatheart.

Millie
Millie is a 15 year old Haflinger Quarter Horse cross. Millie came to us from the Johnson & Wales Equestrian Program. Millie has turned out to be an amazing therapeutic horse. She will let you throw a ball, pick up rings or take a long trail ride. Millie and her best friend Bonny are known as the "dream team" here at Yellow Horse. They work so well together participating in walking races with large dice, going through obstacles, and waiting patiently as their riders learn the essentials of riding. Millie loves her hay and if your lucky, when you dismount, Millie offers a small nicker of thanks to her rider!

Penelope
Meet Penelope, or Miss P, as she is so adoringly called by our students and volunteers. This little 20 year old mare is so very kind and very sweet.  She helps even the most timid and fearful feel safe and sound. P loves to rest her little head against you for a hug. P is a huge part of our veterans program and a volunteer favorite.

Twix
Twix is one of our "founding" therapeutic horses. He has been part of our herd since we began our program in 2014. He is an 24 year old Registered Quarter Horse gelding.  His background includes Reining and as a Western and English lesson & show horse. Twix is a very kind and gentle horse. His sensitive and instinctive nature makes him ideal for educating participants on all aspects of horsemanship. Twix is loved by all our students. Twix is even a movie star! See him in the  2015 release of  "Black Beauty" Directed by Daniel Zirilli and Starring Luke Perry.
